The ancient market town of Céret is situated on a lush, fertile plain of fruit orchards and vineyards. The town is sheltered by the surrounding foothills of the Pyrénées, which tumble down to the Mediterranean at beautiful, arty Collioure. Emerging as a fast-growing cultural centre, Céret lies at the gateway to the Vallespir region - an area renowned for its great natural beauty with breathtaking gorges, picturesque rivers and shady forests of cork oak.
